Bondi Open – Foxmark Group Divison 5

What an amazing event the Bondi Open was! We’ve finally caught our breath and over the next few days we will recap the results of each division. Today we are focusing on the Foxmark Group Division 5.Since first publishing the draw, there were three late withdrawals. Thanks to Nick Walker, Stanley Chung and Faye Sim for stepping in to keep the draw full There were no surprises in round 1 – all seeds won through to the quarter finals. That’s when it started to get interesting!Nick Walker knocked out top seed Ash Minshull in 3 games Leonie Forbes (Leigh’s tip for div 5) defeated fourth seed Cordelia Moss (Jess’s tip for div 5)The closest quarter final was between Annika Kaabel and Tim Zimmermann Tim took the first 15/13, then Annika won the second 11/8. Tim steadied to take the match in 4, but who knows what would have happened if Annika had have managed to take the first?Leonie Forbes and Stanley Chung both won their semi finals in four games, setting up a Willoughby vs Willoughby final.It was the second seed Stanley who prevailed in the final, defeating Leonie 11/4 11/6 5/11 11/4. He was very excited to win the title!
